1. GC: You have before you the group and their work on the lesson, Patience, a copy of which I hold in my hand. As I call each paragraph you will suggest any changes or additions we should make before this lesson receives its final preparation for publication. You will also answer the questions which we will ask.

2. EC: Yes, we have the group and the draft of the lesson, which contains what each of you understands of patience.

We are ready for questions.

(Twenty-five paragraphs follow.  The answer to each one is "Very good", except for paragraph 7: he added, "The illustrations as used here may be made more personal, or expanded upon in that manner.”  Paragraph 9 is "Good".)

3.  (Q) Please provide us a meditation for the lesson, The Open Door.
(A) AS THE FATHER KNOWETH ME, SO MAY I KNOW THE FATHER, THROUGH THE CHRIST SPIRIT, THE DOOR TO THE KINGDOM OF THE FATHER. SHOW THOU ME THE WAY. [See 262-28, Par. 12-A.]

If you have applied yourself to these lessons, the door is through the life and the spirit of Christ Consciousness. As you make your way among women and men with Christ Consciousness as your standard, so may the door be opened for you and for your soul to grow and so exalt the Father.  You lose yourself in service to others, so that in the earth His name may be established forever.

BE STILL, MY CHILDREN! BOW YOUR HEADS THAT THE LORD OF THE WAY MAY MAKE KNOWN TO YOU WHO HAVE BEEN CHOSEN FOR SERVICE, THAT THE WAY MAY BE KNOWN TO THOSE WHO SEEK THE LIGHT -- IN THIS PERIOD WHEN THERE IS NEED FOR THAT SPIRIT TO BE MADE MANIFEST IN THE EARTH! THE GLORY OF THE FATHER WILL BE MADE MANIFEST THROUGH YOU WHO ARE FAITHFUL TO YOUR MISSION! YOU WHO HAVE NAMED THE NAME MAKE KNOWN IN YOUR DAILY WALKS OF LIFE, IN THE LITTLE ACTS OF THE LESSONS YOU HAVE BUILT DURING YOUR LIFETIME, THROUGH MEDITATION AND PRAYER, THAT HIS WAY MAY BE KNOWN AMONG MEN: FOR HE CALLS ON ALL - WHOEVER MAY COME - AND HE STANDS AT THE DOOR OF YOUR OWN CONSCIENCE, THAT YOU MAY BE AWARE THAT RULE HAS NOT DEPARTED FROM ISRAEL, NOR HAVE HIS WAYS BEEN IN VAIN: FOR TODAY, IF YOU WILL HEED IT, THE WAY IS OPEN - I, MICHAEL, CALL ON YOU! [See also 262-28, Par. 11-A, 17-A, and 18-A.]

Be still, my children! Bow your heads that the Lord of the Way may make known to you who have been chosen for service, that the Way may be known to those who seek the light - in this period when there is need for that Spirit to be made manifest in the earth! The glory of the Father will be made manifest through you who are faithful to your mission! You who have named the name make known in your daily walks of life, in the little acts of the lessons you have built during your lifetime, and through meditation and prayer, that his way may be known among men: for he calls on all - whoever may come - and he stands at the door of your own conscience, that you may be aware that rule has not departed from Israel, nor have his ways been in vain: for today, if you will heed it, the way is open - I, Michael, call on you! [See also 262-28, Par. 11-A, 17-A, and 18-A.]

4.  (Q) What should be the basis and fundamental thoughts to be presented in the lesson, The Open Door?

(A) The Christ Spirit is the door, the truth, the way; not the man.  As the Father knows you, so may you know the Father by serving as an example of His attributes. Little by little, line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little, there a little, for the glory of the Father only and not for your own glory.  Exalt yourself - or gratify the desires of your flesh - and the door closes. [See also 262-28, 16-A.]

5. We are through.

1. GC: You will have before you the group gathered here, and their work on the lesson, The Open Door, the outline of which I hold in my hand. You will give any advice and counsel which will be helpful, and answer the questions various members will ask.

2. EC: We have the individuals of the group and their work on the lesson, The Open Door.

3. Apply yourselves to the lessons we’ve given you.  This is how your consciousness admits the Master.  This is how He in turn shows you the way to the kingdom.

4.  He says, "I stand before the door and knock."

Will you open it? Will you be the door that welcomes other minds to that knowledge, that appreciation of the oneness of the Son with the Father? You can manifest Christ consciousness if you practice every day the virtues of the Son, of the Father.

Have you learned to be truly cooperative with one another? Do you know the difference between self-sufficiency and your relationships with other women and men? Have you grounded your ideal wholly in Him? Do you magnify your faith in the Father and his Son to the degree that you rely on them for righteousness? Do you possess virtue and understanding so that you magnify fellowship, the fellowship which yields patience, the patience which helps you to know yourself and observe yourself growing in grace, growing by way of the Lord’s nurturing and admonishment day by day? If so, you may open the door and welcome Him in to dine with you and you to dine with him!

5.  The outline you present is good. You correctly state that you must choose to open the door; that one day you may see opening the door is the way to approach the Son of man, the Savior; that opening the door will open your eyes to what the Creative Forces are doing in the material world, and your at-oneness with those Forces.

6. We are ready for questions.

7.  (Q) [303]: In the reading of Aug. 7th, please explain what you meant by "Look not back. Remember Lot's wife." [262-25, Par. 5-A]

(A) Always look forward, for as you look towards the light the shadows fall behind and do not become stumbling blocks to your development.

Thoughts are things, and while you may use the past as stepping-stones to higher things, looking back causes you to stumble, just as Lot's wife looked back upon what she left and longed for its sensuality, rather than ahead to spiritual growth and its rigors.

8.  (Q) In the reading of Aug. 21st, [262-26, Par. 14-A] you said, "Watch that you be not overcome." Is there any specific thing I should be watching for?

(A) Resist your tendency to dwell on past associations, relationships, and conditions.

9.  (Q) [413]: Is there a special message that will help me to contribute to the lesson, The Open Door?

(A) Learn what you can contribute and how to go about this by applying the previous lessons to your life.  You, alone, must open the door that He may enter in.  Be aware that He is present in all you do, in all your material ambitions and mental deliberations.

The lesson must ever be that the spirit is the life, the mental is the builder, and the physical is the result.  How you apply your understanding of life, light, or the spirit affects every effort.

So measure yourself and your efforts by His standard, He who went about doing good.  Do good, yourself.

10. (Q) [69]: I would like to have a message on The Open Door.

(A) When you embody the gifts of His presence in your day-to-day life, you become an example for other women and men who see what’s missing in their own lives and what they must do to enter into the kingdom through the open door.

11. (Q) [307]: Please explain to me, "the door be opened", stated in the reading of Sept. 4th. [262-27, Par. 3-A]

(A) These lessons have given you the means to open the door.  Once you have opened the door, the course will lay open to you – engage it!

12. (Q) Please explain "The kingdom of the Father." [262-27, Par. 3-A]

(A) If you are conscious of His omnipotence in every element of creation, and if you’re not guided by self-interest, you have opened the way for the flowering of Christ Consciousness in the material world.  Only you who live in the world can bear witness by the example of your own lives the spiritual purpose of life to other women and men.

Here’s an everyday illustration: As you know, water is necessary for life; hence this element often is called the mother of creation. How does water nourish life? It’s made up of elements that are spiritual in themselves; it connects material life to the spiritual forces that breathe life into the earth.

Entering the kingdom of the Father means knowing and following and being those elements that help to build and maintain spiritual values in the material world. You enter through that door with the Savior. You bring with you what has proven influential in the lives of others, and in saving others you save yourself.

How did the Son of man walk the course that leads to perfection in heaven and on earth? He overcame the forces in nature and earth and sacrificed Himself for others.  By becoming the Savior of others He became the Son and one with the Father.

13.  (Q) [560]: In meditation I saw the Christ walking with a shepherd's rod in His hand.  Beside Him was one lone sheep. And then I saw Him again, and there were many sheep beside Him. Is this in any way connected with the lesson, The Open Door? Please explain.

(A) He is the way.  He stands at the door.  Those who hear His voice are His sheep and He the good shepherd.  Many may become His sheep if they seek to be one with Him.

This is an illustration of The Open Door.  If you have done, are doing, and will do those things contained in the lessons, you may open the door for others to enter the fold.  They hear His voice and answer by name as He calls.  "There are other sheep I have that live outside of this pen," He spoke. "I will bring them, too, and the two flocks will be one flock."

The same applies to you.  You seek with Him and through Him.  You seek through the door that you’ve opened to Him.  It is just as he said, "I do nothing myself."

We may, by opening the door with Him, be one with Him in the Father.  We may all be one in Him.

14.  (Q) [993]: I would appreciate a message regarding The Open Door.

(A) Use what’s right here, what you’ve built day by day.  Without fear open the door that He may come in and abide with you.

"He that takes my yoke upon him and learns of me, with Him will I abide day by day, and all things will be brought to remembrance that I have given thee since the foundations of the world, for thou were with me in the beginning and thou may abide with me in that day when the earth will be rolled as the scroll; for the heavens and the earth will pass away, but my word shall not pass away."

His promises are certain.  You know the right thing to do!

15.  (Q) [404]: Can I redeem a lost opportunity?

(A) Nothing is lost, nothing is lost.

We use or abuse our opportunities and we act in accordance with the results. In Him and through Him they may be blotted out, for, as He said: "Though your sins are scarlet, in Him they shall be wool. He that hears my voice and dwells in me shall know no lost opportunity!"

16.  (Q) Please enlarge on the statement: "Through gratifying the desires of your flesh the door closes." [262-27, Par. 4-A]

(A) You are a free-willed performer in a material world.  You have all the virtues of the sons of God.  Indulging your earthly desires by gratifying your appetites closes the door to your spiritual life; you close off yourself. He is ever ready. The spirit is ever willing.   Rely upon His promises, not in a passive, but in a positive, active manner. Keep the door open and let Him enter.

17.  (Q) How should we understand your statement, "The scepter has not departed from Israel."? [262-27, Par. 3-A]

(A) Israel is the chosen of the Lord.  His promise, His care, and His love, have not departed from those who seek to know His way; who seek to see His face; who would draw near to Him. This is the meaning; this should be your understanding.

Those who seek are Israel. You who do not seek, have you not heard, "Think not to call yourselves the promise in Abraham. Do you not know that the Lord is able to raise up children of Abraham from mere stones?" Abraham means call; Israel means those who seek.

How did the supplanter1 [Jacob] obtain the name Israel? He wrestled with the angel; he struggled within himself to know God’s way. So it is with us who are called and seek His face: we are Israel. Know, then that the authority, the promise, the love, and the glory of the Lord has not departed from you who seek His face!  His authority, His promise, His love, and His glory have not departed from us who seek His face!

18.  (Q) What is the relationship between Michael, the lord of the way, and Christ, the way? [262-27, Par. 3-A]

(A) Michael is an archangel who stands before the throne of the Father. The Christ is the Son, the way to the Father.  He came into the earth as a man, the Son of man, that we might have the access to the Father; that makes him the way.

Michael is the lord or the guard of the change that affects every soul that seeks the way, the same as during those periods when His identity manifested in the earth.

BOW YOUR HEADS, YOU SONS OF MEN, IF YOU WOULD KNOW THE WAY.

I, MICHAEL, THE LORD OF THE WAY, WARN YOU NOT TO THWART YOUR BROTHER’S PROGRESS NOR SIT IN THE SEATS OF THE SCORNFUL. [Ps. 1:1] INSTEAD, MAKE KNOWN HIS LOVE, HIS GLORY, AND HIS POWER THAT NO ONE SHOULD FEAR.

I, MICHAEL, HAVE SPOKEN!

19. We are through.

[GD's note: The above reading was so powerfully given that many of us were moved to tears; all were touched deeply.]

1 Genesis 25:24-26:

24
When her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.
25
The first came out red all over like a hairy garment, and they named him Esau [hairy].
26 Afterward his brother came forth, and his hand grasped Esau’s heel; so he was named Jacob [supplanter].  AMP

24
When the time came, ·Rebekah gave birth to twins [L there were twins in her womb]. 25 The first baby ·was born [L came out] red. Since his skin was like a hairy robe, he was named Esau [C sounds like “hairy” in Hebrew]. 26 When ·the second baby [L his brother] ·was born [L came out], ·he [L his hand] was ·holding on to [gripping; grabbing] Esau’s heel, so that baby was named Jacob [C sounds like Hebrew for “heel”; grabbing a heel is a Hebrew idiom for tricking someone].  EXB

3. Continue writing the lesson as you’ve begun it, but allow the style to reflect each individual’s voice and point of view, in order that these lessons find sympathy among the widest possible audience and accomplish the greatest good.

4. For you who have not yet contributed to this lesson, begin the same way we’ve begun each lesson. How does cooperation lead to the open door? Cooperation, as we’ve indicated, is making yourself selfless in the sense that your ideal may be evolved enough to follow the Ideal and become the door that opens and admits He who stands and knocks.

In making yourself selfless, you obliterate selfishness.  You allow your ideal to act through you.  Led by the spirit of truth, you gradually see the ideal changing how individuals view their lives and make their choices. You see for yourself its practical application in the material world.

The spirit of truth gives you courage to exercise faith.  Faith opens you to virtue, understanding and patience, through which you become more conscious of oneness with the Father.  As the Father knows you, so may you know the Father, thus making your mental and conscious mind channels that you, as an individual, can apply every day.  You become an example for other individuals, and by this means you enter into the kingdom of heaven.

5. This is the difference between the kingdom of heaven and the kingdom of the Father: One is the experience of the finite. The other is experiencing glory with Oneness in the infinite.

6 . As you become aware of this current, the kingdom of heaven is within. It is as He said, that this is to be attained not only through your death, but also through your consciousness, your awareness of the influence of the spirit of truth in and through you, as an individual, which is the birthright of each son of the Father; it makes you one with Him as the way and the truth, the light that is shed abroad in the earth; it affords you that counselor with the Father in light.

7. Ready for questions.

8. (Q) What do you mean by the throne of the Father?

(A) The means by which you attain at-oneness with the Father: abandoning your preference for carnal variety in exchange for being one in spirit with the Father.

9 . (Q) What is the difference between Christ Consciousness and the Christ Spirit?

(A) It’s the difference, for example, between the potential for a flower, and the flower. The consciousness of the Spirit and the abilities to apply the potential of that consciousness is the difference between Christ Consciousness and the Christ Spirit.

As related in the scriptures, the devils know individuals who may be conscious of weakness.1  If you have the ability to call upon Spirit, to be unselfish enough to allow the Spirit to stand in for you, then you are aware of the Spirit's activity.  There are people who may be conscious of a truth, but they will not wholly make it their own without embracing what the scriptures say, "He that would have life must give life;" for He thought it not robbery to be equal with the Father, yet by Himself did nothing, "but the Father that worketh in me, through me."

Do likewise, that you may be conscious of the Christ Spirit, and be that witness, so that "My Spirit beareth witness with thy spirit, that the Father may be glorified in you, even as I am glorified in the Father through you. If ye love me keep my commandments, and I will abide with you. I will not leave thee comfortless; I will make thee aware of that glory I possessed with the Father before the world was."

By proceeding this way, you may feel Christ Consciousness and become one with the potency of the Christ Spirit that abounds on earth; for He shall come again, even as you have seen Him go. Then the Christ Spirit shall be manifest in the world, just as Christ Consciousness made you aware of what the Comforter promised.

Then you will recognize that Christ Consciousness is the Holy Spirit, in the same way that His presence made you aware of His activity in the earth; the Holy Spirit is Christ acting in tandem with the Spirit of the Father
.

10 . (Q) Why is the Christ Spirit, and not the man, the door, the truth, the way?

(A) What we just said we may use again to illustrate what a soul may feel that has become aware of itself, as the Christ, or as Jesus the man felt as he became aware of the Spirit of the Father as he "went about doing good," and felt at those periods when Jesus received validation from the Father that he was the one who could and would, through his blossoming, become the Savior of man. First, as "in whom I am well pleased;" then as "This is my son; hear ye him!"

He is the example, the way in which you may overcome the world and become aware that your soul is in accord with the spirit of truth. The Spirit is the true life; corruption inherits not eternal life. Then, as you recognize that he is the way, so you become the door, as representative, as agent, as the individual that re-presents the way, and the door is thus opened.  The door is not opened to you, but to your spirit, the spirit that bears witness with the spirit of truth through Him who overcame the world, thus putting the world under His feet.

So we, as heirs of the kingdom, as brothers one with Him, may enjoy that privilege He has given to those that hear His voice and put on the whole armor; that we may run the race that is set before us, looking to Him, the author, the giver of light; for in Him you live and move and have your being. Do you become rebels? Do you find fault one with another, who are yourselves heirs to that kingdom? Rather be humble of spirit, that His will "be done in earth as it is in heaven." Thus do we become the children of the Father, the door to the way, and joint heirs with Him in glory.

Let your yeses be yes, and your noes be no. "Let others do as they may, but for me I will serve a living God," who has shown in man - all men, everywhere - the image of the Creator, so that each soul may grow in grace, in knowledge, in peace, in harmony, in understanding.

Be doers of the word; not hearers only. Thus you become the door through which the Way, the Christ, the Savior, enters; for He is the way, the truth, and the light
.

11 . (Q) You said in the last reading, "Let none be afraid." What causes fear and how may we conquer it?

(A) Self-awareness and selfishness is what makes men afraid. Men and women at every point of the compass know they live in a world that will never gratify the appetites of their senses. Know ye not that whether ye live or die ye live or die in the Lord? As He commanded, "If thine eye offend, pluck it out. If thine hand lead thee in error, cut it off."

When you have set your ideal, and you know what the ideal represents, and then know you’re measured by the ideal, you see what’s lacking or what’s overdone in yourself, and you pluck it out.  Then you’re able to behold not the splinter in your brother's eye, but consider instead the beam that is in your own eye.

Once you have cast fear aside by abandoning the lacks or excesses in your life, and you rely wholly upon His promise, you may desire only to be fulfilled by what He said, "He knoweth what ye have need of before ye have asked," and he that trusteth in Him, though the heavens may fall, though the earth may pass away, His word faileth not.  Yet men act as if all depended upon whether tomorrow was the day of reckoning.  Yet you live your life as if all that mattered was paying your debts and getting paid what you’re owed.

Don’t you know that if you constantly worry about your own well-being, and labor to avoid mistakes and missteps, that you prevent the Father and the Son from guiding you step by step and day by day? Not that you should sit idly and do nothing and wait for tomorrow, but use that opportunity, that privilege, that birthright, that promise, today!

Take joy in the work in front of you! Be the best at your occupation: if you’re a wife, be the best wife on the block; as a friend, be the best friend, the friend that sticks closer than a brother, the friend that gives his life for a friend. Have you ever shared the truths with your brother, who might have savored a moment’s joy in the Lord?

Peace is yours, peace and contentment is anyone’s who is not afraid, but who instead trusts Him
.

12. (Q) [295]: Please help me with The Open Door, so I may contribute to the lesson.

(A) First learn the lesson of cooperation. Become less and less selfish, and more and more selfless in Him. Don’t be afraid that people will make fun of you as you gain awareness of His presence, as you become a channel of the Lord.  Through you may the glory of the Father show itself to humanity; through you may they learn there is a glory, even a nation, an Israel, of the Lord.

13 . (Q) Is there any message for the group as a whole at this time?

(A) Be as patient as Job; be charitable and forgiving. Be joyous in the Lord. Don’t be vehement or overwrought; don’t be outspoken, but serve humbly. Enjoy your work.

Enjoy those things that bring harmony of thought in Him, knowing you have been called.  By His power, you, as a member of this group, have been called to give yourself first; called that you may become a channel; called that you as an individual may cooperate with your brothers everywhere to make known the joyous words of the Lord.  "For the Lord is in His holy temple, let all the earth keep silent. Who is this Lord? Where is His temple? Know ye not that your bodies are the living temple, holy and acceptable unto Him, would ye walk in His ways?”

PAY ATTENTION, YOU CHILDREN OF MEN! BOW YOUR HEADS, YOU SONS OF MEN!  THE GLORY OF THE LORD IS YOURS, IF YOU WILL BE FAITHFUL TO THE TRUST THAT IS PUT IN EACH OF YOU! KNOW IN WHOM YOU HAVE BELIEVED! KNOW THAT HE IS LORD OF ALL, AND HIS WORD DOES NOT FAIL THEM WHO ARE FAITHFUL DAY BY DAY: FOR I, MICHAEL, WOULD PROTECT THOSE WHO SEEK TO KNOW HIS FACE!

14. We are through.

[Gladys Davis' note: Tears, silence, and a beautiful attunement followed the reading. EC, on waking, said he had had a vision during the reading, and he had to leave the room for a while.  He said he saw each of us as we should be – and as we are.]

the kindred selfishnesses; hopelessness and blasphemy.']

The seven deadly sins, also known as the capital vices or cardinal sins, is a classification of vices (part of Christian ethics) that has been used since early Christian times to educate and instruct Christians concerning fallen humanity's tendency to sin. In the currently recognized version, the sins are usually given as wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy, and gluttony.

The Catholic Church divides sin into two categories: venial sins, in which guilt is relatively minor, and the more severe mortal sins. Theologically, a mortal or deadly sin is believed to destroy the life of grace and charity within a person and thus creates the threat of eternal damnation. "Mortal sin, by attacking the vital principle within us – that is, charity – necessitates a new initiative of God's mercy and a conversion of heart which is normally accomplished within the setting of the sacrament of reconciliation."

According to Catholic moral thought, the seven deadly sins are not discrete from other sins, but are instead the origin ("capital" comes from the Latin caput, head) of the others. Vices can be either venial or mortal, depending on the situation, but "are called 'capital' because they engender other sins, other vices".

- Wikipedia, Seven Deadly Sins

Most scholars agree that the verses 9-16 at the end of Mark were probably not written by the original author. Mark's gospel, for whatever reason, ended abruptly at 16:8. Someone found that totally unsatisfactory and added a better ending, borrowing most of the ideas from others. If this is true, then the author borrowed this idea from Luke 8:1,2 where it states: 1 "And it came to pass afterward, that [Jesus] went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him," 2 "And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils." (KJV)

Because these verses come immediately after the story of the dinner at Simon the Pharisee's house, where a woman washed Jesus' feet with her tears, people have long connected them. Many assume that the woman who washed Jesus' feet, though unnamed, is really Mary Magdalene. It's a stretch and one that scholars are becoming increasingly uncomfortable with. So for now, let's assume that all we know about Mary Magdalene is that seven devils were cast out of her.

Most commentators agree that this is an indication of the severity of her problem, whatever her problem was. Usually demon possession related to mental illness or aberrant physical behavior, but was not necessarily a morality issue. So there is no reason to suggest that she had previously been immoral. It's simply a way of saying her problem was severe. Now, in point of fact, the "seven" could suggest that she had been cured of seven different illnesses either all at once or on seven different occasions. And sometimes "seven" refers symbolically to "completeness." In that case, the author would be saying that she was totally filled up with demons, and he is then highlighting the remarkable nature of Jesus' cure. We can rejoice in that and be grateful for it, but to go beyond that would be to engage in sheer speculation.

1. GC: You will have before you the group gathered here and their work on the lesson, The Open Door. As I call each individual's name, you will give them an individual message on The Open Door, and will then answer the general questions they ask.

3. (Q) [585]:

(A) You must connect many material and mental elements in your life before you see that opening the door is worth your while.  There’s something you must do, something you must accomplish before you’re ready to open the door.

4. (Q) [413]:

(A) The visions you have during meditation open the door for you to understand the motives and interpret the actions of the individuals you work with every day. When you respond, don’t be afraid to drop Jesus’ name, and to describe His walks with you during meditation
.

5. (Q) [303]:

(A) As you put into action what you’ve learned, and look onward and upward, the way becomes clearer to you. You have grown! Don’t tire of doing good deeds.

6. (Q) [295]:

(A) As you root your objectives in Him and as you open the door that He may walk with you, so will His promise come to mean more to you: "My yoke is easy, my burden is light. If ye love me, keep my commandments, that I may abide with thee, that the way may not be shadowed by doubts or fears that make for faltering steps." Keep in the light.  Allow Him to fulfill His promises to you, so that you may commune more closely with those who seek to know Him face to face.

7. (Q) [341]:

(A) As you wrestle with the emotions that His truth provoke in you, so may you come to know the full impact of the answer to the old question, "Is this not he of whom the prophets spoke?" Maintain the memory and the emotional edge that keeps you seeking to bring your brothers and sisters close spiritually, through the same door you opened.

8. (Q) [379]:

(A) Only by working do you learn what you are to accomplish. Go step by step, line by line, so that you may lead others to His promise that each of them may be one with Him.  And keep in mind that those you meet along the way are seekers, too, and are the Israel of the Lord.

9. (Q) [560]:

(A) As you are given those gifts from day to day through the steps you take, in your own way do you come to know and understand the meaning of: "Well done, enter into the joys of Him who shows the way," for whoever is called is also predestined to serve His kingdom.

10. (Q) [993]:

(A) In seeking, in doing, in business day by day, be invisible, so that He, the leader, the guide, may be the more visible to those who watch you.  In Him is the light, and as you walk closer to Him, the way becomes brighter for everyone who would follow in the light.

11. (Q) [404]:

(A) In opening the door, there are responsibilities as well as joys in following in the light. Be the guide to many: let no stumbling block of condemnation be placed in the way of any. You have chosen well, for He is the guide.

12. (Q) [288]

(A) In your own way you understand the open door, but remember that He pointed out His way for everyone to see: "Not my will but thine be done," and expressly, "For this purpose came I into the world.  Serving the Father is what He would have you do.

13. (Q) [538]:

(A) As you practice the principles you’ve secured, keep in mind that He is the guide, "upon Him may I lean." Though at times the way will be strenuous, and the storms violent enough to cause doubts and fears, He stills the raging; He brings harmony to those who are weary, to those who are tired.

14. (Q) [294]:

(A) Keep the faith that opens the door to Him.  The next lesson must be In His Presence, for "If His presence go not with thee, be not lifted up."  The meditation for everyone for this lesson shall be:

Our Father, who art in heaven, may Your kingdom come to earth through Your presence in me, that the light of Your word may shine upon those that I meet day by day. May Your presence in my brother be such that I may glorify You. May I so conduct my own life that others may know Your presence abides with me, and thus glorify You.

15. (Q) [307]:

(A) Keep the faith of the fathers burning bright along the way, for many will follow where you lead. Open the door of your heart, so that He may abide with you.

16. (Q) [[69]'s husband]:

(A) Know in whom you have believed, that He is able to remain in that door you opened, that your brothers and sisters might see the glory of your God in your daily walks among them.

17. (Q) [69]:

(A) As you walk on the path, be joyous in the glory of your birthright in Him.  You have obtained mercy, so be merciful to those who falter or seek to know down to the ground the vicissitudes that cause fear and trembling in the minds and in the hearts of many. Peace.  Be still.  Guide others in Jesus’ manner.

18. (Q) [379]:  Please explain what you mean by the secret place of the Most High.

(A) Let's determine what you are seeking:  Do you want to know how to interpret what the Most High shows to men?  Do you want to know what the relationship is between what the Most High shows to humanity and the Most High Himself?  In the secret chambers of your own heart you store the real work of your soul-consciousness.  Likewise, the Holy of Holies is where you meet what you worship as your God.

19. (Q) [307]:  Please explain the words of the Master as recorded in the 21st chapter of Luke, "Many shall come in my name, saying I am Christ
."

(A) As history records, many have arisen.  He warned there were many false prophets, even those that would lead the chosen away. There are those who, discovering the social influence and material reward that come to some of those who walk in the light, use that influence and promise-making for their own selfish purposes.  Hence they become false prophets, false Christs, and they lead many astray.

You have been given the way to determine whether such a prophet is of the Spirit of God: Those who deny the invocation of the prophets of old; or deny the Son bore the burdens of the world; or deny His death and His resurrection, are not of the spirit.  Remember: "As ye have seen Him go, so shall He come."

He entered the earth at the proper time, born and nurtured the same as any other man.  He was one of those leaders whom the Sons of God brought forth to satisfy the needs of his period, like others who have appeared when and where they were most needed.  He is the one who was given power over death, hell and the grave.  He overcame the world.

In Jesus is the power.  You see His genius in the world; you feel Him press against your mind. Hence you can see how you might wishfully imagine Him looking upon your selfish motive with favor.

Know that even as the powers of evil are unfettered to set straight the many, so are the glories of Him made manifest in the hearts and lives of many.

20. (Q)  Is there a message for [462]?

(A) You have seen a light.  Do not be dismayed or frustrated by anything that would keep you from pressing on to the higher office that is founded in Him. Fill each day with the love of Him.  Let it show through you to those you see day by day. "As ye are faithful over the few things, so will ye be made lord over many."  Under every circumstance, acknowledge the splendor by which He manifests His power in the earth. [See also 262-31, Par. 8-A.]

21.  (Q) Compilers: We would appreciate some advice in regard to the paper, "Present World Conditions" which we sent to Calgary, Canada, for publication. [See 3976-11, Par. R1.]

(A) As we have imparted before, patience endures to the end; in patience you recognize your souls. Prepare, then, and send on in the way that has been given.

22. We are through for the present.
